How would our group go about performing in the Bandstand at Skegness please ?

We stumbled across the model village when strolling around Skegness. It is a bit beyond the Aquarium. At £3 an adult, we decided to chance a look round.
But what a sad attraction it is.
You can see that back in the 60s it would have been a labour of love. It was carefully laid out, but now it is run down and shabby. The train can’t have moved for years, the water is still and stagnant, the buildings in desperate need of a lick of paint. Many smaller parts were broken or laying on their side.
The bedding plants were very sparse and some shrubs are dead – and yet most of the grass had been trimmed and the edging borders were clearly recently weeded. Just not planted.
Borders of lobelias, salvia and alysum would brighten the place up. A moving train as advertised would bring the place to life. And the stagnant water needs sorting.
Having said that, the church building had been repainted and had bell music.
If only a task force could be sent in to refresh it, I’m sure it could be brought back to life.
I left feeling sad for the people who built it.

ON HOLIDAY WITH MY HUSBAND AND SON IN JULY 2019. WENT TO BUY SWEETS FROM “NEMOS” A CABIN ON THE PROMENADE ON BOTTONS PLEASURE BEACH. AS I WAS CHOOSING SWEETS I WAS HORRIFIED TO SEE RIGHT NEXT TO ME CANDY DUMMIES ON RIBBONS THAT WERE PENIS SHAPED! THEY WERE ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE CABIN AT CHEST HEIGHT DANGLING RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME! A CHILD COULD EASILY SEE THEM AND ALSO REACH THEM. I TOLD THE OWNER THEY SHOULD REALLY BE OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN. HE MADE ME FEEL UNCOMFORTABLE BY SAYING WITH A SMIRK ON HIS FACE “WHY SHOULD THEY BE OUT OF REACH” AS IF HE DIDNT KNOW THEY WERE PINK COLOURED PENISES! I THEN HAD TO SAY THEY WERE PENIS DUMMIES IN FRONT OF MY FAMILY. HE WAS VERY RUDE AND OFFENSIVE SAYING I DIDNT HAVE TO BUY THEM AND IT WAS A SEASIDE TOWN AND EVERYONE SELLS THEM. I SAID I HAD SEEN THEM IN OTHER SHOPS BUT THEY WERE BEHIND THE TILL OR HIGH UP OUT OF REACH. WHAT IF A CHILD WAS WITH THEIR FRIENDS AND DIDNT REALISE AT FIRST WHAT IT WAS THEY COULD EASILY REACH UP AND BUY ONE WITH THEIR POCKET MONEY AND WALK AROUND SUCKING ON THE THING! I AM NO PRUDE BUT SHOPS DO NOT EVEN HAVE ADULT MAGAZINES IN REACH OF CHILDREN SO WHY SHOULD THIS OWNER BE ALLOWED TO? HE WAS VULGAR AND OBNOXIOUS AND DIDNT SEEM CONCERNED SO I DOUBT HE WOULD NOT HAVE ANY QUALMS IN SELLING TO A CHILD AS LONG AS HE MADE A SALE. HE SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED UNDER SAFEGUARDING LAWS. SKEGNESS IS A SEASIDE TOWN BUT IT IS A FAMILY ORIENTATED SEASIDE TOWN. STAY WELL CLEAR!!!

No Adidas adverts, no people wear Adidas swimming costumes at the pool. shallow end needs to be at least 1.5m deep and the deep end 3m like Ponds Forge. 0/10

Sounds like you spotted a Muntjac Deer on your walk.

We see muntjacs occasionally when walking down the Vine, it’s usually as it’s starting to drop dark.

As a visitor to Skegness I think you’ve been lucky to spot one, they tend to remain hidden.

We regularly walk around Skegness at night (we walk 2 1/2 to 5 miles a day) and have once seen a muntjac walking on the main Skegness beach (where the bus shelters are). That was unusual.

If you want to see more deer: muntjac and roe deer you should head up to Gibraltar Point Nature Reserve at dusk or early in the morning. There’s a fair amount of them on the nature reserve.

Most interesting wild life encounter in Skeg was a solitary otter in Skegness boating lake, now that was surprising.
